here is a short video of her story.  it was created by her church.

::an annapolis walking tour::april::2010

today i had the pleasure of attending a field trip with my son.  i was a chaperon and my group was all boys.  9 of them.  but they were totally interested in what we were doing.  we had a guide that took us from the state capital building, down maryland avenue, through the naval academy and finally to our destination to catch our cruise at city dock.  it was 65 degrees and mostly sunny.  and being relatively new to the area, it was nice to learn more about the state i am raising my family in as most of my history comes from virginia.

here are few snaps of what we were privileged to see today.  all photos were taken with my iphone.

::easter::round bay::2010

one of my favorite events of the year hosted by the neal family.  thank you for a laugh out loud kind of day.

Picture 2and they were off.  first man down….

Picture 3then the famous egg toss.  one hard boiled egg in the bunch.  who gets it?Picture 4Picture 8the hands here on the left were catching an egg that was just out of the shot.

she made the catch, but the egg splattered all over her hands.  and me.

Picture 9easter44

then it was the three legged races…..

Picture 11okay this is where i start laughing hard.  and when that happens, it is like walking and chewing gum at the same time for me.  obviously i can’t hold a camera and see anything when i am laughing hard as my subjects barely made it into the frame.  here are doug and jack getting ready.

Picture 13then they were off.  looking pretty good in the far right of the shot.

jack is like me with the “perma-grin”.  doug is taking this seriously and wants to win.

Picture 14this is where doug realizes there might be a problem….easter56

uh oh….

back up again.  i love the grip they have with their hands.easter58

oh no….not again.  where are my subjects?  this is really where i was wishing i had video to watch over and over.

::i would love this job::events::

before my days as a mother, i was working for nordstrom. i worked in special events and coordinated events as the company opened new stores in new cities on the east coast. i LOVED my job. i worked for a great company with great people. i loved being behind the scenes setting up fashion shows even if it meant getting up at 4 in the morning to set up 300 chairs or dressing models in time for them to make it to the runway. i loved details, itineraries and timelines and in the end a finished result to recap. there was so much more to say….but it truly was an amazing experience.

i came across this event, outstanding in the field from a blog i like to follow called design sponge. the event happens all throughout the warmer months all over the country. the concept is genious and all of a sudden i had a pang of missing my old job. i envisoned myself setting up these tables and coordinating chefs and farmers and people who wanted to have a unique experience. outstanding in the fieldphoto credits:  outstanding in the field website.  jeremy fenske, elane skinner, andrea wyner, marina makropoulos, aaron fee, kate cross and brighton denevan

wouldn’t this be so fun to attend or work? do you think they need me to be a photographer/event coordinator? based on the photos they have and the set up….it looks like they have it nailed.

maybe for my birthday i will treat myself to attend as a guest. would you like to join me?
