i love this family. such an amazingly close group of people who knew how to love and laugh. i so much enjoyed working with them. their affection for each other was contagious and i had so much fun. thank you for allowing our paths to cross!

oh, the plans to renovate and bump out and make my tiny kitchen a bit grander were not in our immediate future….so i couldn’t stand not doing something. as i mentioned years ago, i really wanted open shelving. i tried taking the doors off the cabinets and leaving it be. but when i did, they looked like cabinets without the doors. not what i was going for. i also needed a new refrigerator as the one that conveyed with the home was on its last legs.

then i met steve. an amazing woodworker. the kind of guy you give a picture to and he greets you with a “no problem”. after our first meeting, he came back 2 days later with a sample of what the shelf might look like. his work was maticulous. i highly recommend his professionalism and most of all his beautiful craftmanship (if you want his number, shoot me an email!).

then i met with lee ann, my extremely gifted neighbor (one day i am going to photograph her amazing home and her exquisite taste and post here!) anyway, she recommended that because the open shelving was so modern, that my lighting fixtures and refrigerator should keep with the era of the home (circa 1949). after much research, i went with the big chill refrigerator from russell&mackenna. and the lighting, well, lee ann’s “extras” from around her home. thank you. thank you.

now i would still love new countertops and maybe a new sink….and a big bay window to overlook the gardens in the back. but then again, that would be a renovation, right?

here is a sample shot of my kitchen before (granted this was my kitchen the day i was cleaning out the cabinets)….

i met jennifer and jimmy when jennifer was given a gift certificate for a maternity session for her baby shower. her family thought it would be nice to document her in front of the camera versus behind it. you see, jennifer is a photographer. you can view her beautiful work here.

i was a little nervous as i had never photographed someone else in my field but she was so easy going as was her husband. i enjoyed spending time with them and am so truly excited for what is about to change their world.
